Person Memorial Hospital was pleased to participate in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension – Person County Center’s “Aging with Gusto” event on Tuesday, August 25, bringing community members together for a day focused on healthy aging, wellness and independence.
This year’s event centered on the theme “Champion Your Health,” encouraging attendees to take an active role in managing their health and well-being. The program emphasized prevention, wellness and personal responsibility as important cornerstones of healthy aging.
Participants learned about ways to advocate for themselves, access preventive health care and make informed choices that can help them maintain their independence and quality of life.
In addition to two workshop sessions, attendees had the opportunity to visit a variety of vendor booths featuring information, resources and activities. Topics presented throughout the event included internet safety, hands-only CPR, the importance of movement, scams and fraud prevention, decluttering and downsizing, and even a creative painting activity using balloons.
Twelve vendor organizations participated, providing attendees with helpful resources, information and giveaways.
“Person Memorial Hospital is proud to support community events like Aging with Gusto that empower people to take an active role in their health,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Person Memorial Hospital. “Healthy aging is about more than treating illness—it’s about prevention, staying active, making informed decisions and having the resources needed to live as independently and fully as possible.”
Person Memorial Hospital extends its appreciation to the North Carolina Cooperative Extension – Person County Center, the participating organizations, volunteers and everyone who helped make this year’s Aging with Gusto event a success.
