Person Memorial Hospital joined organizations nationwide in recognizing Wear Red Day, an annual initiative focused on raising awareness about heart disease and promoting heart health.

On Friday, February 6, team members across the hospital wore red in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement. Wear Red Day brings attention to the fact that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women and underscores the importance of prevention, education and early detection.

“Wear Red Day is a meaningful opportunity to remind our community that heart health matters every day,” said Bert Beard, market chief executive officer. “By standing together and showing our support, we are helping raise awareness and encouraging individuals to take proactive steps to protect their heart health.”

The Go Red for Women® initiative works to increase awareness of women’s heart disease, inspire healthy lifestyle choices and empower individuals to better understand their personal risk factors. Wearing red serves as a visible symbol of support and helps spark important conversations about cardiovascular health.

Person Memorial Hospital encourages community members to prioritize heart health by maintaining regular checkups, managing risk factors and adopting heart-healthy habits throughout the year.
