Asthma, Breathing and Studies of the Lungs

Our team of licensed, registered and certified respiratory care therapists and respiratory care therapy technicians evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. They assist your doctor in diagnosing symptoms by performing a variety of tests that are interpreted by a board-certified pulmonologist. These interpretations go immediately to your doctor who then in cooperation with the pulmonologist determines a plan of care for your situation. Our Respiratory Care team then provides the care you need and monitors the effectiveness of your treatment.

Tests provided include a pulmonary function test that provides information about the amount of air a person's lungs can hold and how effectively the lungs work as well as the forcefulness of an individual's breathing. These tests identify the presence and degree of lung impairment, lung disease and the type of lung disease present.

Conditions typically determined, treated and monitored include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, pneumonia, and environmental exposures. Patient education also is offered.

The Respiratory Care Department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, thus insuring that our patients receive the best possible care in all of our clinical settings. All testing requires a doctor's order.  Each test ranges in length from 15 to 45 minutes.
