Physicians from Duke University Medical Center come to Person Memorial Hospital twice a week to diagnose and treat Heart diseases. Appointments require a physician referral/order and may be made by calling 336-503-5776.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Person Memorial's Cardiac Rehabilitation program is a medically supervised program to help individuals with heart disease recover faster and return to full and productive lives. It is an individualized program of exercise, education and counseling to help participants begin heart healthy living.
Programs usually last for 36 sessions or 3 months. The length of time varies depending upon an individual's heart problems, physician recommendations and insurance coverage. The program includes cardiovascular conditioning exercise, which includes warm-ups and cool-downs plus an intensive exercise workout on treadmills, bikes, rowers, nu-steps and the total gym. A weekly educational session on heart healthy topics is offered to patients and family members. Sessions include such topics as diet, management of heart disease, weight control, smoking cessation, exercise, cardiac medication, etc. In addition, psychological and nutritional counseling are available for support of the rehabilitation group.
