Oncologists, who are physicians that diagnose and treat cancer patients, come to Person Memorial Hospital twice a week to see patients. Person Memorial Hospital offers an on-site chemotherapy room. Physicians from any where in the country may write an order for chemotherapy treatment and patients can receive therapy in the comfort of their own county. Chemotherapy patients have access to their own personal television or audio equipment and tapes. In addition to caring and qualified nurses, trained volunteers are present to assist the patient and his/her family in any way possible.
Appointments require a physician referral/order and may be made by calling 336-503-5776.
The Person Memorial Hospital Auxiliary sponsors a Cancer Service area within the Specialty Clinic Unit. There is an education room that has videos, books and pamphlets regarding the different cancers, coping mechanisms and recommendations. These are given or loaned to patients, family members or friends at no charge. Additionally, there is a Cancer Service room that provides pillows, wigs, bras, prostheses, scarves, turbans, hats, beanbags, etc. These are given to our patients at no charge.
