On July 25, 2009, my family and I arrived at the Emergency Department at Person Memorial Hospital due to the swelling of my father's tongue. When we entered the hospital, he was immediately taken into the Triage Unit and examined by the staff. His condition was assessed and vital signs were taken. It was determined that he was having an allergic reaction to something. While inquiring about his medication and what foods he had eaten, my father's condition deteriorated quickly. His airway was closing and the staff had to perform an emergency tracheotomy; however, his tongue continued to swell and Dr. Naji and staff determined that he should be transferred to another medical facility. As the arrangements were being made, we were continuously updated on my father's condition.
As a result of the dedication and prompt action of Dr. Naji and the staff at Person Memorial Hospital, my father's condition has stabilized and his recovery is progressively improving each day. The cause of the allergic reaction is still a mystery but we are thankful that we still have him with us as we try to determine the cause.
I am truly thankful to Dr. Naji and the entire Person Memorial Hospital staff for their swift action and outstanding customer service extended to my family.
