Congratulations

Person Memorial Hospital Emergency Department completed Phase one of implementing a complete departmental electronic medical record.  We would like to thank the community and the entire Emergency Department for their tremendous effort in making PMH the first choice of our community for health and wellness services.  The community will benefit from such endeavors with improved patient safety, and better medical outcomes.  The end goal of the project will bring the workflow completely paperless.  The entire project will consist of two separate phases.

Phase One

Phase one includes Nursing documentation, e-MAR (electronic medication administration report), and advanced tracking features.  Each of these components will help deliver consistent, timely medical practice while increasing patient safety.

Phase Two

Phase two will begin in February 2010 with a completion date sometime early fall.  Phase two brings added benefits to our patients with feature rich content such as e-prescribing.  The ED physicians will have the ability to send prescriptions directly to the pharmacy of your choice.  Other features include Physician documentation, Physician order entry, and Medication reconciliation.

A Part of Something Larger

The ED project is the spearhead of a greater movement at Person Memorial Hospital called PACE (PMH Achieving Clinical Excellence).  The hospital has embarked upon a long journey to meet governmental regulations of meeting “meaningful use” of an electronic Medical Record by 2015.  The hospital has strategically incorporated this external governmental regulation into the PACE project.

PACE

The PACE project will focus on clinical excellence being delivered through our Hospital Information System.  Upcoming projects consist of:

  • Improved Nursing functionality (acute care)
  • Bedside Medication Verification (reduce medical errors)
  • Computerized physician order entry (hospital wide)
