2007 will see an enlarged Surgical Suite, an expanded Laboratory and a renovated and enlarged Intensive Care Unit.

Approximately 10,000 square feet will be added to the Surgical Suite. There will be 4 new operating rooms, a surgical waiting area and an expanded area for preparation and recovery of same day surgery patients in addition to improved and increased space for inpatient recovery and post anesthesia.

The Laboratory will gain an additional 1100 square feet to accommodate lab equipment and to establish a reference laboratory. This reference laboratory will provide lab services to local physician offices.

The renovated Intensive Care Unit will consist of 3,582 square feet. Each of the six rooms will be private rooms with private baths and 2 rooms will be equipped as isolation rooms. The nursing station will be situated so that all patients can be observed. The area will include a private family waiting room.

The last phase of the project will encompass the Emergency Department and the Respiratory Care Department. Occupancy should be early 2008.

The Emergency Department will gain an additional 3700 square feet of new construction and the current area will be renovated to accommodate projected future growth of visits each year.

The new area will permit the creation of an emergency fast track to treat minor injuries. The fast track will include a viewing room, an ear/eye treatment room and a general treatment room. PMH plans to treat and discharge fast track patients in a timely fashion.

The more critical care area of the Emergency Department will have eight general treatment rooms and separate rooms dedicated to cardiac, cast, GYN and trauma. Two triage rooms providing total privacy for patients being assessed and directed to the proper level of care will be added. A decontamination/isolation room and a viewing/treatment room also will be available in the emergency area.

Respiratory Services will expand to 600 square feet to provide a storage room a blood gas room, a pulmonary function room and a staff office.
