Cancer Service
Oncologists, physicians who diagnose and treat cancer patients,
come to Person
Memorial Hospital twice a week to see patients. Person Memorial
Hospital offers an on-site chemotherapy room. Physicians from
any where in the country can write the order for chemo treatment
and patients can receive therapy in the comfort of their own
county. Each chemo patient has access to his own personal
television or audio equipment and tapes. In addition to caring
and qualified nurses, trained volunteers are present to assist
the patient and his/her family in whatever way possible.
Appointments require a physician referral/order and may
be made by calling 336-503-5776.
The Person Memorial Hospital Auxiliary sponsors a Cancer Service
area within the Specialty Clinic Unit. There is an education
room that has videos, books and pamphlets regarding the different
cancers and coping mechanisms/ recommendations. These are
given or loaned to patients, family members or friends at
no charge. Additionally, there is a Cancer Service room that
provides pillows, wigs, bras, prothesises, scarves turbans,
hats, bean bags, etc. These are given to Cancer patients at
no charge. |
