About Our Staff
The teams of caring professionals with whom you may have direct contact include:
A physician who will be responsible for directing your care must admit you to the hospital. This may be your personal physician or a physician known as a Hospitalist that your personal physician trusts to care for you while hospitalized.
A hospitalist is a trained physician who specializes in caring for patients who are in the hospital. A hospitalist is trained in family practice, internal medicine or another specialty. However, because hospitalists do not have private practices they focus exclusively on a patient's needs while in hospital care. Hospitalists, who have more availability to care for hospital patients than primary care physicians that have a full office schedule, can respond quickly to unexpected problems and are more readily available for communication with patient or family.
The hospitalists at Person Memorial Hospital communicate with a patient's primary care physician throughout the patient's stay - from admission to discharge. At discharge the hospitalist sends a detailed report to the primary care physician regarding the patient's treatment and care. Hospitalists typically provide care for patients whose physicians are not on staff or patients that do not have an established relationship with a primary care physician. Individuals should check with their physician to determine hospitalist usage.
Our dedicated nursing staff is composed of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse Aides. They care for you 24 hours a day insuring that your doctor's plan for your recovery is carried out and that you are as comfortable as possible. Each nurse will listen to your concerns and requests and be as helpful as possible.
Rehabilitation, Laboratory, Respiratory and Radiology Therapists and Technicians
These caring professionals will assist you as ordered by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns about the treatment they are rendering, please do not hesitate to ask.
The Environmental Services Department ensures that the entire hospital campus is clean and sanitary. Each day a member of the environmental services staff will clean your room. If your room needs special attention, mention it to the staff member or report it to your nurse.
Food and Nutrition Services
Our registered dietitians will be happy to answer any questions about your dietary needs and may visit you during your stay. A dietary aide may deliver your meals or pick-up your preferences.
Our Maintenance staff is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to handle any maintenance needs at the hospital. If your room needs attention or any other problem, please report it to your nurse.
Volunteer chaplains are available to meet your spiritual needs. Please notify your nurse if you wish to be visited by a volunteer chaplain.
Volunteer Auxiliary members may visit your room to deliver mail, provide free reading material, etc. If you need their assistance, please notify your nurse.
Our Utilization Review Coordinator may visit to help you plan your discharge and any services you will need after leaving the hospital.
Other departments that will be working toward improving your health care include the Pharmacy, Quality Improvement, Biomedical, and Infection Control/Education. You may not see them everyday, but they are constantly working to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care and comfort.
