Look at most any healthcare organization in America and you'll find an abundance of economic development, but not all are equal in the community benefit that they provide.
The economic impact of Person Memorial Hospital is felt locally, through direct spending on such things as payroll, goods and services, and new construction. The hospital also applies indirect economic impact by attracting other businesses that benefit from close proximity to such a progressive and multi-faceted organization.
In addition, the hospital inevitably brings a significant "community benefit" to the areas it serves. This is a specific industry term that describes the broad variety of discretionary, benevolent activities that impact education and public welfare, as well as the quality of healthcare within the community. Community benefit includes such things as providing charity care for the uninsured and providing vital healthcare, education, and other services -- many of which operate at a loss -- for the community. It also includes the value of employees' personal involvement in civic, charitable and professional organizations.
Person Memorial Hospital is honored to be a supportive member of the local community.
